Online Booking: Tentative & Confirmed Appointments
Online bookings to be approved.
It would be fantastic to have an option, after the initial client approval or account creation,.. to determine whether or not a client can book freely every time, or if they will need approval every time. On an individual basis.
My vision is a simple group of options (drop down) within each client card:
- Always allow online booking
- Always require approval
- Do not allow online booking
These option would override the set of global rules.
If nothing is selected, global rules still apply.
Thanks for sharing. It would be great if you could explain why some clients would need to be pre-approved?
Our logic is for Shedul to save you as much time as possible by reducing the steps needed to be taken.
As a result, you can simply publish the hours you are willing to work and clients can book directly with you meaning the appointment is automatically confirmed.
If there’s an approval process, it would be easier for then to call you, which increases your work load.
Keen to hear your thoughts :)
Jiny Green is exactly right. Another great scenario we all face.

I personally would love this option. I work out of my home and so I'm PICKY about who I want/am willing to see/work on. I usually only like to take clients that were referred to me, because I've gotten my fair share of creeps. This would also help with planning out my day depending how exhausting the client is and if I need extra time in between certain clients.
Still no word on whether we can have actual control of our bookings?
It's a simple and common request for any stylist that is busy and truly knows their client list.
Without this ability we have NO control of our own book.
Plain and simple, some days we generally do not want to deal with certain clients, haha. There are a myriad of reasons honestly. Some people cannot be booked with others due to personal reasons, others you know will ALWAYS be late, etc, etc.
In the days of running a pencil and paper book and received phone calls, this was always an option. Why shouldn't it be an option now?
If we (you) are truly building the best salon/barber booking solution out there, this feature is a MUST for the busy stylist/barber.
After online booking my clients receive the immediat message (SETUP-CLIENT SETTINGS-CLIENT NOTIFICATIONS) that the appointment will be confirmed definitely by the staff. This gives us the time to approve the client/appointment or to organize the staff lunch breaks,....
But we do need a drop down option to allow/not allow online booking for all 'special clients'
70% of my clients come late. 10% of them dont show up without prior notice (they still confirm in the morning at the appointment date, yet doesnt show up). Therefore, when my client made an appointment, they have to pay deposit first to me so I can confirm the time slot.
I understand that Shedul is built to save time. But when the client doesn't show up or come late without any deposit, it will be wasting time and harm my bussiness.
Hello, I also agree this would be a real nice addition. My reasons are similar to many expressed in the comments already but I'd like to summarize the 3 main usage cases:
1) Services not well known by the client. As described in many comments, some customers book the wrong service/time, which in turn can cause overlap of customers. A delayed confirmation after review by the staff/management would help in these cases.
2) Blacklisted client. Ok they only represent less than 1% of the client base ...but when they come and cause havoc or great stress they can disturb your full day or more. Their impact can be quite more significant than their small number.
3) Client abusing the booking system. Again, a small percentage of them, but those who keep changing their appointment 4/5 times a day, cancel, re-book at the last minute, etc ... makes things difficult to plan for the staff and every other customer. I know we can set stricter rules on appointments but I don't want to limit ALL my customers just because a small number misuse the system. This option would be a way to slow down this behavior without necessarily 'blacklisting' them or restricting the full customer base.
Happy business everyone !
Please having the ability to confirm, deny or move a clients online request is a great feature. Having online booking/request is a time savor in its self and allows clients to schedule/request/see what is available at any time. Depending on the situation that appointment may not be able to be "confirmed" at the time of the client requesting (blacklisted client, another client booked right before, staff member just blocked the time or called out sick any number of things) Seme businesses have IC who control their own schedules and may not be available at that time anymore but have not changed the hours yet.
Maybe there could be an option to turn on or off auto confirmation base on what the Shedul client needs.
It is a small step to click confirm, deny or have another option of time and date upon receiving a clients online request.
If we could confirm or deny an appointment before a client confirmation email or text goes out that would be great. I can’t always check my emails all the time to check if I’ve had a new appointment. Recently I had an incident where my notifications were set to a client not being able to book an appointment within two hours of the current time. I usually check my emails before I leave of a day to double check I haven’t had any new appointments. There must have been a few minutes left where a client could still book after I had checked my emails and gone home for the day ( I lived half about 20 minutes away), only to get angry text messages because I wasn’t there for an appointment that I didn’t know about. Majority of this is my fault yes, but it would just make it less stressful if I could confirm that yes that client is ok to book at this time before they get sent a notification confirming the appointment.
We should be able to confirm the online booking instead of a automatic confirmation
I support this idea. We would like to deny blacklisted clients' booking. If without this feature, they can book all your slots with different account prehaps in order to not allow you to take other clients. simply add "Deny" and "Approval" for the booking instead of all online booking are approved once they booked.
Additional, Client can able to search the profile in the online booking system which then avoid duplication of client profile. Hope this could be happened soon.
I agree. I would like to blacklist certain unreliable clients so they CANNOT book online.
I am a walk-in and appointment salon. Yes they can should see our live availability but just request the appointment and we go in and approve it. Sometimes walk in traffic can be crazy and we don’t want to turn them away as well. It should be an option at least that people can switch on and off.
it would help if we could confirm the appointments as it minimises lost time i also dont want them to re arrange their own appointments it causes havoc plzzzz

Thank you. This is needed for Salon and beauty services because they almost always are different and for certain services it's almost impossible to create a On-Size-Fits-All listing. Every body is different and usually varies in times and materials (yes, if you don't have the color they want, you have to order it).
Blow dry for Subsaharian 3 feet long hair (one price/time)
Blow dry for Nordic Caucasian 4 inches short hair (another price/time)
And so on, you name it. We need to be able to asses the service and confirm availability.

We need this. The stylists manage their schedule and look at their day/week as well as the client booking and make decisions on if they can double book or need more time, etc. It at least needs to NOTIFY the stylist that a new online booking has been made so they can review it.
We need this option also. If their request is just a penciled-in and someone needs to confirm before it becomes real.
We need this! Clients don't always book the right services or amount of time needed and therefore cannot be confirmed as they've booked it. A "your request has been received" email would be nice, and then a confirmation email can be sent once we've made the correct adjustments.
What's the status of this feature? It looks like it was brought up 2 years ago and the majority of comments believe this is a good/great idea for various reasons.
However, I see that Justyne replied on Feb 1, 2107 also stating it's something they are not planning to work on. Is that correct, is this no longer a feature that's going to be implemented?
Many times new clients don't know what they need or a current client may need more time than the booking system will book. Sometimes I know that a client has exceptionally thick hair so I need to give more time. I would like the ability to approve appointments in that situation so that I could determine if I truly have enough time to complete. Also, this gives me a buffer if I have forgotten to block off time.
